Part 1."},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<h2>After hearing enough jokes about it, I finally gave in and chose that title.<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_157\" style=\"width: 501px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/uncityslicker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-157\" class=\"size-full wp-image-157\" title=\"This is only a &quot;small&quot; wood pile\" src=\"http:\/\/uncityslicker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/01.jpg\" alt=\"Stacking wood in progress\" width=\"491\" height=\"368\" srcset=\"http:\/\/uncityslicker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/01.jpg 491w, http:\/\/uncityslicker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/01-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 491px) 100vw, 491px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-157\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Firewood is used by many homes in colder climates to offset heating costs. <\/p><\/div>\n<p>Many people in colder climates turn to wood heat in the winter months. \u00c2\u00a0It&#8217;s a great way to offset other heating costs, and is used especially in rural homes. \u00c2\u00a0If you use a wood stove, fireplace, or wood boiler, you&#8217;re going to need to know how to stack wood efficiently, safely, and correctly. \u00c2\u00a0Here&#8217;s how I do it:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"More...\" src=\"http:\/\/uncityslicker.com\/wp-includes\/js\/tinymce\/plugins\/wordpress\/img\/trans.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Before we even begin, make sure you have gloves and steel toe boots on when you&#8217;re stacking wood. \u00c2\u00a0Don&#8217;t believe me? \u00c2\u00a0Pick up a big piece of firewood, and imagine dropping it onto your toe from 4 feet. \u00c2\u00a0Now go put your steel toe boots on.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s start by taking a look at the overall construction of a woodpile. \u00c2\u00a0I like to stack wood on used shipping pallets. \u00c2\u00a0They&#8217;re sturdy, large, and you should be able to get them for free. \u00c2\u00a0Food for thought, you can stack wood on individual pallets, shrink wrap it, and move it with a tractor or fork lift when you need to!<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, pay special attention to the orientation of the firewood. \u00c2\u00a0Stacking the firewood using the tips in the descriptions of these pictures will make things more stable and efficient.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_158\" style=\"width: 378px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/uncityslicker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-158\" class=\"size-full wp-image-158 \" title=\"It's all about the angles!\" src=\"http:\/\/uncityslicker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/02.jpg\" alt=\"End view of a stable wood pile\" width=\"368\" height=\"491\" srcset=\"http:\/\/uncityslicker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/02.jpg 368w, http:\/\/uncityslicker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/02-224x300.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 368px) 100vw, 368px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-158\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The angle of the wood on the outside rows makes the pile more stable.
